Suleyman Demirel University
Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) is a public university founded in 1992 in Isparta, Turkey. SDU is one of the prominent higher education institutions in Southwest of Turkey: it has 18 faculties, 20 vocational schools, 6 postgraduate institutes and 46 research centers. As of 2018 the university has 46,265 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Law was established in 2008. The Faculty with its dynamic academic staff provides undergraduate and postgraduate education and offers classes on public international law as well as asylum and migration law.
Role in ASILE
Suleyman Demirel University thanks to their expertise and central location in Turkey will be central in order to reach policy makers, Civil Society organization working in the field and asylum seekers. It will be involved in WP1 – Inventory of Asylum Governance Instruments and Actors, concretely in Tasks 1.1, as well as in WP2 on Actors Networks (Task 2.1). It will have a direct involvement in WP5, Task 5.1 EU Arrangements with Third Countries. Partner 8 will conduct a Country Report and a series of interviews at the national area. Prof. Ineli-Ciger has also collaborated in previous occasions with some of the partner members in similar topics. She has an extensive experience with national and European research projects.

Meltem Ineli-Ciger

Short biography
Meltem Ineli-Ciger is an Assistant Professor at the Suleyman Demirel University, Faculty of Law in Turkey. She holds BA degree in law from Dokuz Eylül University and a L.L.M. degree in international law and a PhD from University of Bristol. Meltem is the author of Temporary Protection in Law and Practice (Brill/ Nijhoff 2018) and co-editor of Seeking Asylum in the European Union (Brill/Nijhoff 2015). Meltem was a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014 and Waseda University in 2018. She has acted as a legal expert in asylum and migration related projects commissioned by the European Migration Network, IOM, ICMPD, European Commission and the Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management. Her research interests include temporary protection, Syrian refugees, Global Compact on Refugees, alternatives to detention and protection of refugees and migrants under the European Union Law and the ECHR. She is a research affiliate of Refugee Law Initiative and a member of Odysseus Network and MILAMET Network.
Özgenur Yiğit

Short biography
Özgenur Yiğit is a research assistant at the Suleyman Demirel University Faculty of Law. She has graduated from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Faculty of Law in 2016. She has volunteered for UNHCR’s legal clinic while studying her bachelor degree where she has worked with refugees and migrants in Ankara. She holds a master’s degree from Suleyman Demirel University Graduate School of Social Sciences. Her master’s thesis was about the right to effective remedy of refugees and asylum-seekers in International Law, European Law and Turkish Law. Her thesis was later on published by On İki Levha Publishing House in 2018. She has presented and participated in asylum and migration related conferences in Turkey organized by UNCHR and ICMPD. She is currently a PhD student at the Ankara University.
